English and Spanish guiding, lunch at Mesón de la Plaza, the Portuguese Museum, and the historic basilica are included, while museum entry and alcoholic drinks cost extra.

“It is a very well planned tour. We had an overall great experience. In the Ferry and specially with our tour guide Lubys, he is excellent! He not only explained the history of Colonia in an amazing way but added a lot of information about Uruguay. He made our trip well worth it! I also have to mention the Restaurant El Mesòn, our included lunch was delicious and the place is adorable. Thank you! Irma”

Colonia del Sacramento: Small-Group Day Trip

3.Small-Group Day Trip

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 48 reviews · 12 hours · from $315

Travel by ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia del Sacramento for a guided walk through the UNESCO-listed Old Town. Hear local stories from guides such as Alejandra, see Calle de los Suspiros and the lighthouse, then enjoy free time before returning by boat.

“The guide was great - very knowledgeable - she was entertaining, fun and relaxed. The tour was about 2 hours in total. The price of the whole experience was quite high. It included ferry tickets, transport to and from the hotel. It would be better to just purchase the tickets separately at £30 each and pay for Ubers to and from the hotel. The cost of the guide your guide tour was £260 … essentially this means I paid £200 for the 2 hour tour.”

4.Chico Circuit & Colonia Suiza Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.4 · 35 reviews · 7 hours · from $66Best value

This seven-hour Bariloche outing combines Cerro Campanario, Puerto Pañuelo, Colonia Suiza, Villa La Angostura, and the famed Seven Lakes route. A Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking guide such as Richard or Damian leads the day, with hotel pickup, insurance, free time, and mountain roads included.

“Richard was a great guide and quite accommodating and the driver was very professional. The tour was nice although we expected more from the Swiss Colony. Found the food offering quite poor and facilities too rustic.”
